For this work I combined my inspiration in art with my inspiration in music. I love the works of Vermeer, his precision and skill. While working I listen to a lot of music by Sabrina Carpenter and I noticed how her gaze matches the girl in "The Girl with the Pearl Earring."

In this work I simply wanted to practice coloring portraits in water, also because I did this before when I was fourteen and wanted to put both works next to each other. A study that got out of hand :)

My goal for this work was to show how something as simple as a plastic bag of fruit suddenly becomes very complicated when captured. Hence the everyday title.

This is me! In 2024 I was in the national Kunstbende final, representing Friesland, and for that competition I wanted to show the contrast between pure childhood and uncertain puberty. This is my other self-portrait, of my recent face.

For this work I was challenged by a friend of mine, artist Xander Schiettekatte, to do what he already does incredibly well: depict an eye from extremely close up in as realistic and detailed a way as possible.

My grandma and I share one thing and that is our celebrity crush on actor Timothee Chalamet. The scene of the drawing comes from a beautiful movie of his, which is set in beautiful Italy.

Many people don't know this, but I was also a finalist in the program De Nieuwe Vermeer. This was my version of Vermeer's self-portrait. I was sixteen when I participated.
